Holland Park in Schwanebeck: Opening spring 2022

Holland is closer than you think! A new leisure park in traditional Dutch style is opening soon, just outside Berlin. With shopping experiences, fun and games and restaurants, the park has plenty to offer visitors of all ages and is easy to reach on the A10/11. Entry to the park is free, as is parking. Tickets have to be bought for some attractions.

New Boat Lift in Niederfinow: Launch scheduled for the end of 2022

The steel giant in the Barnimer Land has already started moving – during a trial period the lift is being operated several times a day for inland waterway vessels. The newly built, second boat lift in Niederfinow can overcome a rise of 36 metres. It has taken a good 13 years to build, and the test phase will continue until the third quarter of 2022, after which time it will be officially inaugurat

Palace Theatre re-opens in the New Palace

After remaining closed for seven years of restoration work, the Palace Theatre in the New Palace is open again! It is regarded as one of the most beautiful baroque theatres in Europe. The first performances were held in autumn 2021. With its unusual ambience, the theatre plays host to operas, concerts and plays, as well as meetings and conferences.

Another Art-Museum in Potsdam – The Minsk

THE MINSK, a new museum of modern art in Potsdam, will open its doors in spring 2022. At its heart is an extensive collection of paintings from the GDR, compiled over the years by Hasso Plattner. The opening exhibition will present the work of two artists: painter Wolfgang Mattheuer (born 1927 in Reichenbach/Vogtland; died 2004) and photographer and film-maker Stan Douglas (born 1960 in Vancouver)

Treetop Walkway Extended

Stroll along the “Baum and Zeit” treetop walkway and let your gaze wander far into the distance. On a clear day you can see as far as Berlin. From the new, circular extension, you can see the buildings from the first construction phase, which were designed by architect Heino Schmieden and erected in 1902. Einkaufserlebnisse, Spielspaß und Gastronomie hier entsteht ein Erlebnisort für Jung und Alt, der verkehrsgünstig zu erreichen über die A10/11 ist. Neues Schiffshebewerk Niederfinow – Eröffnung voraussichtlich Ende 2022

Das neu gebaute zweite Schiffshebewerk in Niederfinow überwindet ein Gefälle von 36 Metern. Nach gut 13 Jahren Bauzeit soll der Testbetrieb noch bis ins dritte Quartal 2022 laufen, bevor das Bauwerk offiziell eingeweiht wird. Gesteuert wird es von einem einzigen Mitarbeiter dessen Bedienstand fast 50 Meter über dem Erdboden liegt.

Nach siebenjähriger Schließung und Sanierung ist das Schlosstheater des Neuen Palais wieder für Aufführungen geöffnet! Das Schlosstheater gehört zu den schönsten noch erhaltenen barocken Theatern Europas. Seit Herbst 2021 wird es – nach intensiven Restaurierungsmaßnahmen – wieder bespielt. Im außergewöhnlichen Ambiente des Schauspielortes finden Opern, Konzerte und Theater sowie Tagungen statt.
