Brandenburgs New Hotels

Lenzen. At the heart of the fascinating countryside of the UNESCO biosphere reserve and on the River Löcknitz, this listed castle is surrounded by over five hectares of certified organic garden. Formerly the Castle Hotel, it is now the AHEAD Burghotel and is home to Germany´s largest vegan restaurant, which serves only plant-based and organic food. Known as the Place to V, it has a large sun terrace and a conservatory with a view of the castle garden, where breakfast is served. The teahouse in the garden has underfloor heating and is where guests can retreat to for meditation or yoga. For something more active, there are bike rides on bamboo cycles, walking or swimming, stand-up paddling to try – or the River Löcknitz to explore in a canoe. The hotel is taking a whole new approach to hospitality and sees itself as a pioneer, with one of the most sustainable hotels in Germany. Fair, ecological and mindful is their credo – for a better world, in harmony with nature, people and animals. There is a variety of rooms to choose from either in the castle itself or in the old castle school, some of the latter with a view of the castle. The rooms are all fitted with eco-friendly furniture.

Each room comes with its own yoga mat. For those who prefer something more luxurious, there are deluxe rooms or ahead junior suites. Breakfast is served in the sunlit winter garden with a view of the castle garden and the River Löcknitz – a completely vegan breakfast buffet, of course, with a wide selection of plant-based and organic spreads, mueslis, salads, biscuits, pancakes and tofu scramble.

Breakfast is included in the room rate. The health and leisure area has a Finnish sauna (90°C) and a bio sauna (60°C). Both are open daily from 2 to 10 p.m.

Potsdam. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites opened in November 2021. Located in the heart of the federal state capital of Potsdam, it has 198 rooms and 25 suites, which are fitted with a kitchen unit and fridge, making them suitable for longer stays. The hotel is close to several attractions, such as the City Palace, St. Nicholas’ Church, the French Church and the Museum Barberini. The entrance to the world-famous Sanssouci Park is a twenty-minute walk away. There are bus and tram stops right next to the hotel, making it easy to reach. The rooms all have air conditioning and are equipped with a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board and a desk. Breakfast is complimentary and served between 6 and 10 a.m. The hotel bar is open 24/7. There is a business centre, free high-speed Wi-Fi and an underground car park, which costs 19 euros per day extra.
